Hey guys! This is Lisa. This video is brought to you today by one of the most comedy mails that I received and it was time to do a video, because this question just, kind of bugs me and I understand it because everybody is curious. A lot of people have lost their jobs, so they need extra money, and they want success. So, I understand the question. But it is one of the most first showing questions that I have received, and it is the question of how long, or how many hours do I need to spend in front of my computer to make 6-figures like you, or to make half of what you are making. And let me just tell you something. For those of you who are just starting out in your career, so you are skeptical and you want to know from me some ideas on making money, you know exactly what we did, that is a very dangerous question. Because, often times, what that question does – whether you realize it or not – is instantly, you are comparing yourself to that person who is successful. So that’s how you, “Oh! It only took me 4 months before I was making $3,000 per month.” It didn’t, but I was just using this as an example. Then suddenly, after 4 months let’s say, you have only made $20 or you are not making anything, in the back of your mind, you are thinking, “It only took Lisa 4 months to make $3,000. I must be doing something wrong!” So all of a sudden, mentally, you are kind of, doomed to fail, because you say, “Oh! I must be doing something wrong when Lisa did this” and suddenly, your focus is now, “How come I can’t do what she is doing?” And the whole purpose of this video is, I want to talk about the background – the things you don’t see.
So many people e-mail me and they say, “Oh! You make it look so easy, you know, it looks like you just built this up overnight.” Well, I didn’t. First of all, I have been out here for 10 years at the time that I am making this video. I started this in 1998. I was at senior college, and I needed some extra money. But I was not driven so much by the money as much as I was driven by my love for writing and my love to help people. So I just want people to understand that, it is not that I just woke up yesterday or 3 months ago and built a site and boom! I was quitting my job. No, it took me 6 years to make, to match my – you know, i did not come for that – to match my know-how so, it is 6 years. Now, I didn’t say this to discourage you, because for some people, it doesn’t take nearly that long. But rather, some people never get to that level. But I just want you to understand that this takes time. You’ll have to fail a little bit in order to succeed sometimes, and a lot of people are afraid of that. And if you are one of those people who are afraid of failing, I am going to talk about that in a minute. But you can’t be. The other thing I want to talk about is again, the how many hours do I need to work in order to do this. People just want to quantify. They want to be able to quantify their work, they want to be able to know, “If I spend 4 to 6 hours a day doing this, can I be guaranteed that I’ll make $2,000 a month?” No, there are so many factors that contribute to how successful you are going to be. It depends on your niche, it depends on your enjoyment, it depends on your passion for the topic. It depends on – this is the big one – how well you grasp the concept of marketing. Anybody can, no wonder, put up a website. Hey! You could even pay some money to build your website. But not everybody can get marketing. Not everybody can write well. Not everybody can understand how to deliver content that connects with the target audience and build that credibility that allows these people to then trust you, and then buy your products. That takes work, and in some cases, it may take even a special skill. And I think a lot of people forget that. They get so focused on building their site. They get so focused and, “Oh gosh! I am not a web designer”, that they forget that this is really about marketing. Most people who are making 6-figures or more online are not programmers. Now, there are some programmers who are doing well, they are skilled in marketing and design in programming. But most of the people who are doing well are not doing well, because they are marketing, not so much because they are top web designers. Some of the big marketers here pay people to design the sites for them. They focus their time on marketing and writing. So, that’s another one big point I wanted to make.
Another point is – I touched on this briefly – failure. You can’t be afraid to fail. I can tell you how many emails I get from people who say, “I am so afraid to create a site that no one will visit.” Now, if you are concerned about spinning money and wasting money, that I understand, but if you’re just concerned about failing and taking it personally like, if so many does not visit your site it means you’re struck, you can’t have that attitude because nine times out of ten, most people’s foresight is they do fail, and that’s not a bad thing, because you’ll learn from those failures. I will give you an example. I created a site back in 2000, and it was a forum for reality TV show. So basically you could comment, you could talk about songs, you could talk about Big Brother – the site failed miserably, because I didn’t have a traffic base. So when I created my new forum website which is now a pretty good success, I tell people, “Don’t ever start your journey with a forum. Build a site first, then use that site to promote your forum, because you need the traffic to build up that forum.” So when I created that website, I created a website first, got traffic till I was getting 2000-4000 visitors a day, then I launched my forum and used it to create traffic, to catapult traffic to that forum. So had I not failed with that first forum back in 2000, I would have never learned what I did won. You’ve got to learn out here, and one of the best ways to learn is to fail, so you can’t be afraid to do that, and if you are, I do feel sorry for people who are in that mentality. Because most people who succeed out here have failed first. So you can’t be afraid of it. And – I touched on this as well, – you’ve got that fire, that passion for this. When I was doing working my 9 to 5, I was sitting at my desk, tapping my foot like, “Couldn’t wait till 5 o’clock came around”, because I had an idea that I don’t want to go home right about. You got to have that passion, you got to have that fire for this. Otherwise, it will feel like a 9 to 5 job. You don’t want to feel this like work, because then it won’t be fun for you and it won’t be productive. So you got to have that fire, that passion to do this. Otherwise, I can tell you this – you will get bored. And the last thing I want people to realize is the time that I’ve spent on this. I haven’t always made a lot of money online. I remember days when I was working 6 to 8 hours, after my 9 to 5, and still maybe, only making $20 a month. But I never got discouraged because it goes back to that passion, goes back to that fire. There was something about this process, maybe it’s writing, maybe it’s communicating with people and helping them. But there was something about my passion, fire that drove me to continue doing this.
So, those are the things I just wanted to talk about in this video. So many people get caught up and it just looks so great – you got your site, you are making money, you quit your job, you are doing all these wonderful things. But there was a whole lot of stuff that came before my success. And I am okay who the person is – everyone is going to have a similar story, and they are going to talk about how they first started, what they learned, and the things that they did wrong. So, I wanted to tell you – Don’t be afraid to fail. Find your passion. Understand that you are not going to be able to quantify every hour, for every dollar you get, say, “Oh! If I work 6 hours, then I’ll make $2,000 a month.” It all depends on how well you get this, how passionate you are about your topic. So, I hope I have shared some light on this whole money-making thing. There is a lot of hype out here about it, and I think a lot of people get misled. So, I hope you have learned a lesson.
So, take care, and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye bye!

Making your wage off a computer can be annoying at the start however Its the people that stick to it that will succeed.
